The Village of Sag Harbor is located within the East Hampton Township. Sag Harbor was a particularly important community throughout its history, as it served as the first entryway into New York when the United States was at the early stages of its development. Today, the village sustains a population of about 2,250 individuals, of whom men make up 51% of the population. The median age of residents is 47.3, while the median household income is just shy of $90,000 based on 2012 figures.

The Sag Harbor school district encompasses just two schools; Sag Harbor Elementary School and Pierson Middle-High School. It signifies a school’s ability to successfully meet state held standards for the year. Pierson Middle-High School received national notice in 2013, when Newsweek ranked it the 1134 best public high school in the United States.
