These schools were Herricks High School and New Hyde Park Memorial High School at 177 and 256, respectively. Athletics also play a large role in New Hyde Park. At New Hyde Park Memorial High School, for example, they excel in sports like basketball and tennis. The girls’ varsity basketball team won the Class B NYS Championship during the 2002-2003 season. More recently, during the 2008-2009 tennis season, the boy’s team went undefeated, ultimately winning the division and conference.
New Hyde Park also has its fair share of appetizing restaurants and eateries. Community minded members can even volunteer to join the auxiliary police force to help the local officers patrol the community and assist in maintaining safety at large events.
